Founded in 1951 with a handful of girls, the Ashok Hall Girls' Higher Secondary School has blossomed into one of the premier educational institutions of the country.

The senior section of the school, housing classes VI to XII, is situated in the southern end of the business district of Kolkata – near Minto Park. The junior section, housing classes Lower Infant to class V, is situated in the heart of one of the posh residential area of South Kolkata at Palm Avenue.
There is a separate vocational stream in the evening hours. This evening section is for Classes XI and XII only and is co-educational. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education.
